This whole thing makes me so incredibly mad... how can France keep getting away with this shit?!
Its against our human rights - to force a woman to dress in a way that society thinks is appropriate - I had thought we were passed this barbaric way of the world. Apparantly not.
I cannot think why the French law thinks this necessary or what they think justifies this.
To teach muslim women about "gender equality" - just who do they think they are? what makes u think u could teach ME anything about equality or freedom? especially when you are the one who is taking away and curtailing my freedom? smacks of sheer hypocrisy at best.
Talk about blind Islamophobia - hating a people as a whole. The sheer ignorance of the situation stuns me - how little you have to know about Islam to think that it oppresses its women.
Look at me, look at my friends, look at my community - do we women look weak to you? Do I in any way, shape or form, appear oppressed?
No one who has met me and got to know me could ever think that.
I come from a long history of Muslim women who managed to submit to God, cover up and be modest and still acieve great things - they were and are, professors, doctors, historians, philosophers, mathmeticians, teachers and warriors. We have, throughout history, fought along side the men for our rights and our religion.
And still they think to tell US about "gender equality"?!
The arrogance - the sheer stupendouse arrogance!
All this after I went to Paris too - next time, I'm talking a Niqab.... in rainbow colours! and a glow in the dark one too!
