Well the world has been turning a while since I last blogged.... basically, my laptop is old and cant always handle the net... bless its "ickle heart". (say awwww)
Anyways.... I know I usually have tonns to write about, sometimes rubbish (mayb most of the time or all of the time, depends on ur point of view), sometimes politics, sometimes historic and sometimes personal... but tonight, I really dont feel I have that much to say.
I've been thinking about the state of the world and I have been thinking how awful things are getting. I remember (vaguely) getting taught a hadith (saying of the Prophet (SAW)) that said a day would come that the leaders of the people would be the most corrupt amongst them.
Ladies and gentlemen I do believe that day is here. But the saddest thing is, our leaders are from amongst us, they represent US - if they are corrupt then so are we. Thats what a democrasy is essentially, isnt it???
Anyway - I'm getting off my original point, which is I am incredibly lucky. I am alive. I am relatively healthy. I have had a first class education and all the benefits that brings. I live in fairly free country. I have my religion, Islam. I have my father and my sister. I have a roof over my head. I have excellent friends (alhamdulillah!) and some supportive family.... and the list goes on.
A list of my blessing. I am blessed.... alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah). He, God, has blessed me with plenty.
Every so often I feel I should blog about my blessings -to remind myself of how lucky I am. To not pity myself. To remember my blessings and to sincerely thank Allah for each and every one of them.
In the Quran Allah says:
"O you who have attained to faith! Partake of the good things which We have provided for you as sustenance, and render thanks unto God, if it is [truly] Him that you worship." 2:172
"When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His book which is laid down with Him: My Mercy prevails over My Wrath" Hadith (Muslim; al-Bukhari)
