Last night was the first night in my new house.
Last Friday was Eid Ul-Adha and we spend it eating with family - thats the Muslim tradition for Eid. Eating.
It was fun as we had our cousin, Nav, come from America to visit and we hadnt seen in her in years! It was a strange kind of Eid, a bit surreal as not only did we have Nav here but also recieved the keys to our new house. A new beginning was beginning - it was a happy time. For once the family was together, happy and with no friction. We had a lot of laughs, even managed to fit in some crazy moments in between the eating!
On Saturday the big move began; the packing, the shifting, the moving stuff across. Dad had rented a big white van and back and forth we went. Its incredible how much STUFF one has just to live - and I dont even consider us particularly well supplied! We don't hoard or buy excessively - where did all this stuff come from?! But nevertheless we filled boxes (admittedly a lot of it was mine but I refuse to feel guilty; I just lived a broad and fulfilled life!).
Yesterday we took the last of the stuff across after work - poor Lam had spent the whole day cleaning the flat. She cleaned and she cleaned - we're not dirty and not even messy but the dust appeared regardless.
Last night - we finally moved into the first house we've ever really had together as a family. It was an awesome feeling and a few times I caught myself with the urge to jump up and down in excitement.
We've still got lots of moving to do and no furniture or furnishings except for some sofas (which I love!) - we dont even have curtains! But all thats secondary cos we have a house! Yay!
I'll put some put some pictures up soon of us moving and the house.
Just remember us in your prayers and duas - Insha'allah everything will go well.
Am very happy right now!
