movin and shakin

Well.... last night I moved yet again! This time into a council flat (yippee) that will be my place of residence till something more permanent comes up - which InshAllah will be soon!

Farah (Annila's sister) helped me move - may Allah bless her and shower her with rewards. We found the flats with some difficulty. They are in Ancoats - an area of manchester we were both hopelessly unfamiliar with. But with some driving around and what must surely have been Allah's guiding hand we somehow found ourselves in the right place!

Oh dear.... I think I'm a bit of a snob or mayb I have had a more sheltered upbringing than I thought I had but this is the kind of area we hijabis avoid. An estate that is full of, dare I say it, scallies, chavs etc. Where drug addiction and alcohol abuse are the norm rather than a rarity. Where you dont hear about drug abuse but see it taking place in streets and bus shelters. Where parents dont worry about teenage angst so much as worry about their kids accidentally falling over and pricking themselves on a needle on the street...But hey, Alhamdulillah, I have a flat and God Willing I wont be in it for tooooo long. SO make dua for me.

The flat itself is more of a bedsit to be honest. I have bathroom, a bedroom, a small kitchen and thats it. The whole thing needs a good scrub (any volunteers can call me!lol) - which is what I'll be doing tonight. I cant wait to cook! I'v been living of take aways and its been killing me slowly. And just because its a healthy takeaway doesnt make it any better!

Cleaning the whole place, top to bottom, is my No1 Priority. No2 is buying everything i need - from pots and pans to microwaves and toasters, bedsheets, lamps, etc etc.

Nor do I have money to spend on all of this. Dammit why does everything cost so much?!!!

My dad is taking me shopping tonight - so this can go incredibly badly or maybe just well. It'll be nice tho to spend some time with him as I havnt really spend any significant time with him in the last couple of years. Mayb this will be our opportunity to do so. Allahu'alim.

OK better get to work - had to wake up at 6.30 AM to get to work today. Was still 10mins late. uh oh... I see early morning on the horizon!
