Religious groups will have to prove their commitment to integration before being awarded taxpayers' cash, Tony Blair said today, as he reignited the row over Muslim headscarves.
The prime minister said it was "plain common sense" that teachers should have to remove them in the classroom, as he announced a crackdown on funding for religious and racial groups.
Mr Blair warned that public money had been too easily handed out to organisations "tightly bonded around religious, racial or ethnic identities".
______________________I cant believe this!!!!
I can see where he could have taken this - i.e. to make sure money isnt given to groups that dont encourage violence or inequality or anything else like that.
BUT he is, once again, trying to paint everyone by the same brush. Not everyone is the same. But making it harder for people of religion. or more bluntly Muslims, apply for grants - is plain stupid and I feel kinda racist. Islamophobic is the word.
This is the Prime Minister who says he is a relgious man. A tolerant man. A man whose morals come from his religious beliefs.
So where is religious tolerance now???
UGH! He makes me so mad!
