I woke up around 9am-ish and Madiha had hogged the covers yet again. Good thing it hadn't been a cold night!
I got up and sneaked around getting ready - I'm telling u its not easy being a hijabi in these situations. Firstly nothing is designed to make it easier for you, if anything its the opposite, and bless my family, but sometimes they just don't understand whats involved. This is partly why I have to be awake before everyone, so I can sneak around and be IN hijab by the time the guys are awake. Its bloody annoying, cos I love sleep. Absolutely lurve it.
Once I was up and ready I spent the next 40 minutes waking Madiha and Saniyah up = lol. The idea was to leave Picton for Toronto by 10am (my idea). We managed to leave by about 10.40 - not bad. For my family and our punctuality issues - this was good time!
I made Madiha drive me the long way to Toronto so i could see a Native American reservation. Its so sad that they still have to live on reservation and that all thats left for the world to see of their culture is toursim and trinklets. They were once such a proud and amazing nation. Anyway, I made my cousins stand for some cheesy pics and bought a dream catcher - its so pretty. When my mum and dad came to Canada they bought me and Lamees dreamcatchers. They were so cheeeeeeeeeeeesy and PINK. Mine was made of PINK feathers and plastic - UUUUGLY! I hate pink - Allah knows what my mother was thinking!
Anyway, our drive to Toronto was relatively uneventful, barring Madiha's compulsive complaining and road rage. She's so funny. Give her 30 seconds of silence and she can't stand it.... she'll fill the silence with complaints. And her complaints are hilarious... most in urdu and punjabi and phrased in the most hilarious and overly dramatic way.
When we finally got to Toronto we dumped the car at Azmed Baji's and went to the mall called the Eaton Centre. Its huge! HUGE I tell u! The entire center of Manchester can fit into that mall with room to spare. I'm not even exaggerating.
I really do not enjoy shopping anymore. The idea was for me to buy presents for people and souvenirs. Didn't happen. Everything was quite expensive (i.e. not cheaper than England!) and the cash machines here won't give me money. Bloody silly things!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, Madiha shopped till I dropped. I actually started falling asleep in shops waiting for her - many a time I'd open my eyes to see some guy (shop assistant) looking at me wondering what the hell I was doing. Can't they see I was napping?!
Anyway, after shopping we went to Azmeh's house where we crashed for half an hour, Madiha hadn't seen Aarish for a couple of years and Aarish was scared of her. Quite a funny situation. he's a cool kid though.
After Azmeh's we went all the way across Toronto to pick Saniyah up from work and then made our way to Sarah's (Saniya's sister) house. Here we ate, chilled out, talked about a huge variety of topics, from AIDS to her wedding to cooking, and we watched her wedding video. We finally left at around 2am and headed home to Fari phopho's. God All Mighty I was tired. beyond tired! I have not been this tired in a long, LONG time.
Came home, got into bed and bloody Madiah the pagal (mad) wanted to chat - cos she can't got to sleep before talking or watching a movie. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
We talked for a while and finally, FINALLY I was able to go to sleep. Alhamdulillah!
